A fluctuating 220 Vac 50 Hz mains supply is the norm, therefore a step-down device (transformer) is required if you have any U.S. or other 110 Vac working voltage appliances.

However, some equipment (especially laptop computers and razors/shavers) usually have "auto" voltage detect circuitry enabling them to work between 90 and 240 Vac. Check their specifications.

Russian power outlet sockets use a two-pin "Northern European" standard:- 19mm (3/4") pitch. Most standard travel adapters are suitable.
