The city owned white and green street phones allowing national and international calls are scattered liberally throughout the place and require phone cards to use them.
Operation is straightforward and an information panel in English explaining how to use them is usually in attendance.
Colourful plastic phone cards are available from post offices, banks and some street kiosks with various unit denominations.
Although a charge is made for making local calls from phone booths, calls made between private landline phones within the city, are free.
Some hotels will charge their rates for local calls, so why not go to a bar, get a drink, and take advantage of their free phone, it will work out cheaper and the atmosphere is better!
