St. Petersburg has suffered more than most from bad press on numerous issues, and safety on the streets seems to be a favourite topic.

Every major city in the world has its fair share of problems and this city certainly has no exception.

If you're going to be involved in any sort of incident, the most likely is a form of petty theft. To reduce your chances of falling victim to such a crime all you need is a good helping of common sense.

Reporting A Crime
If you're unlucky and happen to get involved with any incident, report it to the police.

Although there's little chance on retrieving any stolen items reporting it to the authorities generates the required documentation to make a claim on your travel insurance.
