The alternative to rickety old trolleybuses are standard city buses. These have greatly improved since a foreign bus making factory setup business in one of the suburbs.

These privately run buses are clean inside and out, don’t exhale massive loads of exhaust fumes and the personnel onboard are friendly...really!

Although running set routes they also provide the same advantages as the mini-van taxis in that they do often run a stop request service.

Prices vary but expect to pay around 15 roubles a trip.
